Senior Analytical Engineer, Computational Fluid Dynamics

Job Duties: As part of the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) group in Product Development, apply analytical and/or CAE methods to simulate the physical performance of systems and components and make design recommendations to ensure engineering objectives are achieved prior to development of physical prototypes. Assess needs of product development and direct activities to put focus on correct tasks. Make design recommendations to ensure engineering objectives are achieved prior to development of physical prototypes. Enhance department analysis capability by improving existing analyses or creating new analysis where physics is well understood. Collaborate with test engineering to help improve test methods and validate new models. Define meshes for torque converter components that meet turbo machinery standards. Apply principals of turbo machinery analysis to torque converter components. Apply principals of heat transfer theory to torque converter components. Support the product development process by applying CFD analysis to other components as needed and by providing all calculations in a timely manner.
5 years of experience in the job offered or as an analytical engineer or CFD analyst or engineer, plus demonstrated experience in: CFD with a focus on Turbo machinery or torque converters; CFD Analysis software such as Fluent/CFX; CFD/FEA meshing tools such as ICEM-CFD or TurboGrid; Using 3D CAD tools to cleanup geometry for meshing; Experience with heat transfer analysis and turbulence theory; and knowledge of physics and math fundamentals equations such as Navier Stokes equations and heat equations and analysis methods such as Finite Element Method and Finite Volume Methods. A masters degree and 3 years of experience will be accepted in the alternative.
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace/aeronautical engineering or related engineering degree
